Origin of the series: I love to paint outside, but I'm not always inspired by grand, sweeping landscapes. I'm often drawn to little details - an interesting mushroom or flower, the moss on the surface of a rock - so in this series of paintings, I chose to focus on the beauty in small places, creating microscapes instead of landscapes.
